Axfords CorsetsAxfords is a unique company, which mixes Victorian traditions with modern technology to supply beautiful, high quality corsets worldwide. The Axfords Company was established in 1880 and is a privately owned family business. Michael Hammond the current proprietor took over running the family business from his mother Jean 15 years ago. Axfords pride themselves on the quality of their garments. All Axfords corsets are made in England in their factory in Brighton, and (unlike most modern garments, whose parts are made by different machinists and sewn together at the end), each Axfords corset is made from start to finish by one of their highly skilled corsetieres. The Making of an Axfords Corset Axfords corsets are hand made in a small family owned factory in the South-East of England, to the highest standards. Each corset is individually hand made from start to finish by a single corsetiere and then discreetly signed. Strong stainless steel busks are used for the front fastenings. The satin is woven to Axfords own specifications to ensure the highest quality. Steel spiral boning is used to stiffen the corset. Eyelets are put in by hand and are reinforced from the inside. A single black lace, which can vary from 4 to 10 yards, is then threaded through the eyelets. An Axfords corset is made to look and feel beautiful. An Axfords corset is special and will make you feel special too.
